Mrs. Muldong

MEET MRS. MULDONG

Hello Sierra Vista families!

My name is Patricia Muldong, and I am very happy to be serving Sierra Vista, as the English RSP teacher for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I earned my B.S. at American College of Education and completed a teaching credential program with the Yolo Solano Teacher Credentialing Program in Davis. I became an Education Specialist because I wanted to ensure all students can find success in education when they use dedication, perseverance, and commitment. This is my first year at Sierra Vista, and my twenty second year in education. I am truly looking forward to getting to know all of the families and working together to make learning a positive experience for everyone.

In my educational career, I have worked at both the elementary and secondary levels. I began my career in education as a Pre- K teacher. After three years, it became clear that my family needed me much more. Diagnosed at an early age with hearing loss and auditory processing, our youngest son entered school with an IEP. I made the change to working for Winters Joint Unified School District as a paraprofessional, for sixteen years. I worked grades from kindergarten through 12th grade. The first five years were with elementary students, then four years with middle school students, and the last seven years I worked at Winters High School. During the time at Winters High my focus was on instruction and implementation of services for students in the English 9-12 grades, Integrated Math I through III, Biology, Life Science, Social Studies 9-11 grades, Government, and Economics. The Yolo County SELPA Community Advisory Committee in 2018/2019 recognized me for Outstanding Service to children with special needs. In the midst of the pandemic, in the 2020/ 2021 school year, I joined the Vacaville Unified School district family, and I had the pleasure of teaching Special Day Class for 4-6th graders at Fairmont Charter. Now, this is my second year being a part of the Sierra Vista Family and partnering together with you.

In the classroom, I strive to provide consistency, a welcoming place, where we meet the needs, address students IEPs, and where students can learn how to advocate for themselves appropriately. In return I expect students to: be open to challenging work, to try, to try again when things do not work, lastly for them to hold responsibility for themselves, and their actions. I believe with perseverance, consistency and arduous work can bring growth. That all growth, no matter how quickly it comes or how big, it all counts. I want students to find my classroom as a safe place to push themselves and be willing to take risks. I guide students with instruction to access education with the use of performance cycles and Universal Design for Learning.

I have been married for going on 30 years; Mr. Muldong is also in education. He began in elementary education, and now instructs adults. We have two sons, Nicholas and Devon, Nicholas lives in Vacaville and is a manager at In and Out. He is married to our bonus daughter, Megan. They have gifted us a beautiful granddaughter, Helena, who is three and sweet grandson Damian, just born this spring. Devon, our youngest, is currently in Arizona. He attended ASU. In the spring of 2021, he received his B.S. In Aeronautical Engineering Management he earned his M.A. in Human Systems, fall of 2022. (Yes, he is the son who has hearing loss and auditory processing.) He now has begun his career with Phoenix Sky Harbor (airport) as an Assistant.  I love Disney and Star Wars. In my free time I enjoy going to the movies, concerts, cooking, baking, gardening and traveling.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and your students.
