Mrs. Bannon

Hello Sierra Vista Families,

My name is Sarah Bannon.  I am a Bay Area Native, and moved to Vacaville after earning my Biological Sciences degree from University of California at Davis and teaching credential from Sacramento State University in the single subject areas of Life and Physical Sciences.  I enjoy teaching at a small school and creating relationships between Sierra Vista and the community.

Teaching science is so inspiring – students are eager to explore the world, ask questions and seek answers.  I desire to help students identify, realize, and grow their potential as high-achieving students.  I believe students need to be actively engaged in their own learning.  In class,  students are  immersed in the hands-on process of doing science.  Through peer collaboration, I believe students can encourage each other to achieve excellence, and together, celebrate success.  My goal is to develop critical thinking skills through the excitement of lab investigations and the in-depth study of science concepts.

In my spare time, you can find my husband and myself exploring Berkeley with our son (Go Bears!), hanging out at the beach with our daughter (Go Gauchos!), or at the park, repeatedly throwing tennis balls for our energetic chocolate lab, Pepsi.

I look forward to sharing my love of science with tour wonderful 8th grade team.

Go Grizzlies!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bannon
